Gas debt. Meter installed. Can change supplier?

We managed to build up a big old debt to E.D.F Energy.
They have put in a pre pay meter, but the amount they want to take for the debt is huge!
Have tried talking to them, but they are not interested.
Can I change supplier at this point so that I pre pay for the gas that [...]
