With gas prices on the rise, filling up at the pump can be a painful experience. To give your wallet a break, consider applying for a gas rewards credit card. These cards can help you save valuable dollars on fuel, and many throw in extra benefits as well.

Getting Started

During the last few years, gas rewards credit cards have become more versatile than ever before. While previous cards were often only valid at a particular gas station, you can now apply for gas credit cards that can be used anywhere. Many card issuers also offer additional rewards, such as cash back for using the card at a grocery store or a chance to earn both gas and travel benefits.

If you cover a lot of miles on the road each week, there?s a good chance you can reduce your fuel costs with a gas credit card. You?ll find many to choose from online. You can compare the different rewards they offer and select the one that best fits your gas and mileage needs.

How Gas Rewards Cards Work

The rewards included with a gas credit card vary, depending on the card issuer. Many offer a gas rebate for purchasing fuel. Others allow you to earn points for gas purchases, and also for using the card in grocery stores and drugstores. You can then redeem the points for a variety of rewards. Still others offer cash back for using the card. When you pay with your card at the pump, you could earn up to 5% cash back.

What to Look For

While gas rewards credit cards can definitely be used to your advantage, there are some key points you?ll want to remember before you commit to one. First of all, pay careful attention to the introductory offers. Many credit cards come with an initially low interest rate or extra savings on gas purchases.

These offers may be an excellent deal for you, but you?ll want to check what the regular interest rate is. You?ll also want to know how the rewards program will work after the initial period. By making sure these terms fit your needs, you?ll be able to make the most out of your gas rewards credit card.

Get the Full Benefits

Once you?ve found the right gas rewards credit card for your lifestyle, apply for it online. As soon as it comes in the mail, you can start using it. To make sure you benefit as much as possible from the card, use it every time you fill up with gas. If it offers rewards for other purchases, consider using it for more of your shopping needs.

When you start making purchases with the card, keep careful track of your account. If possible, try to pay off the balance each month. By doing so, you will avoid having to pay interest fees. Also, take note of the rewards and rebates you are due. By managing your account well, you can get the most out of your card.

Don?t wait to sign up for a gas rewards credit card. The sooner you apply online for one, the sooner you?ll be able to save on fuel costs. In just a few weeks, you?ll be rewarded every time you fill up the tank.

The current gas prices have made gas credit cards spread around like wild fire. Motorists are keen on saving every penny they can on gas money and gas cards can definitely save a considerable amount. But if you’re one of those who haven’t used a gas card before, don’t go forth blindly into getting a gas card. There are important factors that should be considered in getting gas cards. To help you, below is a list of the top five important factors.

1. Rewards

Gas credit cards work just like ordinary credit cards only that you save more if used on gas purchases. Rebates are offered for every gas purchase and this is how you save from gas credit cards. When looking for gas credit cards, find out first how much you will be saving from your gas purchases. Rebates are usually at 2% to 5%, so you may want go with a card that offers the highest percentage. And if you plan to use your card on other purchases, look for cards that offer rebates on non-gas purchases.

2. Fine Print

Read the fine print; don’t just go for the highest percentage rebate. Look into the card’s rebate and rewards offers, and the process of redeeming them. Consider in particular cash back rebates that don’t expire or if they do, consider longer expiration periods. If you are a frequent flyer, cards that convert rewards points into airline tickets may appeal to you. Also, look into how rebates are redeemed. Sure, every card offers rebates but make sure you will be able to redeem them. Lastly, read the card’s fine print for rebate caps. Stay away from cards that limit your savings.

3. APR

The APR is the annual percentage rate that will be charged on the maintaining balance on your card. To max up savings from gas credit cards, the balance should be paid in full every billing period. If not, the balance is charged with the APR. Even if you originally planned on paying your balances in full, there may be instances when you won’t be able to. So, choosing a card with the lowest APR will be preferable.

4. Fees

Credit cards usually have annual fees but most gas credit cards don’t. Consider credit cards that don’t have annual fees, save for those that offer other benefits that negate these fees. If you’re not meticulous in looking for cards, fees could easily eat out your savings especially if you don’t spend that many miles on your car.

5. Introductory Period and Rates

Several cards offer higher percentage rebate during introductory periods-often from 90 days to 12 months. Introductory rebates are usually twice the regular rebate, from 6% to 10%. While it is okay to go for cards that offer introductory rates, the rebate that you get during regular months should be considered. Introductory rates can sometimes be too sweet.

Using gas credit cards is a sure win as long as you know how your card works. Be wary of fees and interests as they can easily negate your savings.

Since the beginning of time, saving money has been the biggest obstacle in every household. Not every family can save as much money as they want because of their daily expenses. They spend money on food, clothes, and other important matters. And this includes gas or fuel for your car.

When you consume gas, every penny is worth saving. Since prices have skyrocketed, we can’t determine on how much gas you must spend on gas alone. To get you into saving, pay for gas and get a little refund with the help of… well, plastic. Don’t believe me? Well, read on!

To get your own “plastic” object which we call a credit card, you must know which of the best cards to choose with a discount rate on gas.

A BP Visa is worth your money spent. Aside from using this card on gas with a 5% rebate, you also receive other rebates on other goods. Whenever you use this card, you’ll receive a 5% rebate on all BP purchases in any stores. Also, when you dine out in selected areas or spend it on travel expenses, you get a rebate of 2%. Another 1% rebates for other all other purchases that accept BP cards in any stores.

If you want more freedom on spending, then a Chase Freedom Card is just right for you. With this card, you earn 3% back on your top three sending categories. This card is worth if especially if you buy a lot of gas. Aside from that, you also get a check of $250 once your rebates mount up to $200. You get to earn extra without you knowing it!

For other cards that can save you for your gas and automotive maintenance purchases, try the Discovery Open Road. When using this card, you get benefits such as 5% cash back on your purchases, plus 1% back on everything non-car related items. You also have the power to increase your rewards, double them, and exchange it with the form of gift cards – a perfect way to send them as presents for the holidays. You can use these gift cards on any store and services: book stores, restaurants, florists, retailers, and travel needs.

Choosing the right card for you may be hard for you. It has to suit your needs and your lifestyle. And the best of all, it has to be ideal for your spending at home. Then again, if you don’t want to burden yourself with bills every month, then try these alternatives in saving money at the pump:

• Use a public transportation. It may not be favorable for you; yet, you have to make sacrifices for a change to meet those needs of yours. It might not be the best ride, but it certainly saved you every penny from your wallet!

• Eat at home. It’s very expensive to dine out and spend for food. So try cooking for a change and whip up a delicious delicacy for your loved ones and friends.
