Since the beginning of time, saving money has been the biggest obstacle in every household. Not every family can save as much money as they want because of their daily expenses. They spend money on food, clothes, and other important matters. And this includes gas or fuel for your car.

When you consume gas, every penny is worth saving. Since prices have skyrocketed, we can’t determine on how much gas you must spend on gas alone. To get you into saving, pay for gas and get a little refund with the help of… well, plastic. Don’t believe me? Well, read on!

To get your own “plastic” object which we call a credit card, you must know which of the best cards to choose with a discount rate on gas.

A BP Visa is worth your money spent. Aside from using this card on gas with a 5% rebate, you also receive other rebates on other goods. Whenever you use this card, you’ll receive a 5% rebate on all BP purchases in any stores. Also, when you dine out in selected areas or spend it on travel expenses, you get a rebate of 2%. Another 1% rebates for other all other purchases that accept BP cards in any stores.

If you want more freedom on spending, then a Chase Freedom Card is just right for you. With this card, you earn 3% back on your top three sending categories. This card is worth if especially if you buy a lot of gas. Aside from that, you also get a check of $250 once your rebates mount up to $200. You get to earn extra without you knowing it!

For other cards that can save you for your gas and automotive maintenance purchases, try the Discovery Open Road. When using this card, you get benefits such as 5% cash back on your purchases, plus 1% back on everything non-car related items. You also have the power to increase your rewards, double them, and exchange it with the form of gift cards – a perfect way to send them as presents for the holidays. You can use these gift cards on any store and services: book stores, restaurants, florists, retailers, and travel needs.

Choosing the right card for you may be hard for you. It has to suit your needs and your lifestyle. And the best of all, it has to be ideal for your spending at home. Then again, if you don’t want to burden yourself with bills every month, then try these alternatives in saving money at the pump:

• Use a public transportation. It may not be favorable for you; yet, you have to make sacrifices for a change to meet those needs of yours. It might not be the best ride, but it certainly saved you every penny from your wallet!

• Eat at home. It’s very expensive to dine out and spend for food. So try cooking for a change and whip up a delicious delicacy for your loved ones and friends.

Discount Gas Cards – 1 Way to Save

When gas prices were one dollar a gallon, you rarely heard anyone complaining about the gas prices. Once they hit that three dollar a gallon mark, it seemed like the whole country went mad. Like anything in life, there are plenty of ways to save money on gas. Below, we’ve listed a few ways on how you can save money so you don’t have to pay the full price at the pump.

Check the Internet

The Internet is filled with a ton of information, you basically have the world at your fingertips. There are plenty of web sites out there that will show you how much gas is in your area. Believe it or not, a few miles can make a difference when it comes to a price per gallon. Check web sites like gasbuddy.com and gaspricewatch.com when it comes to checking out gas prices in your area. When you find a cheap price, make sure you drive or make way for that gas station.

Target the poor areas

If you live in a fairly moderate neighborhood, you may want to jump to the other side of town and go to that gas station. Make sure that neighborhood is safe before you fill up. The reason poorer areas have cheaper gas is due to the property taxes, etc. Poorer areas generally have lower taxes, therefore making gas prices a lot cheaper than the wealthy areas.

Sign up for for a wholesale club

Places like CostCo and Sam’s Club always have cheaper gas that the mainstream gas stations. This is because of their membership fees. In order to fill up with gas at these gas stations, you’re going to have to have a membership to fill up. Sometimes you may find that these memberships pay off for you in the long run because of the savings. Other than saving on gas, you’ll also find that the prices of goods in the store pay off as well.

Consider a discount gas card

As mentioned in the title, this is probably the best way to save on gas. There are so many credit card offers out there, some people forget to realize that there are ways to save money on gas. A gas rebate credit card generally allows you save about five percent per gallon. This may not sound like a lot but this is five cents per dollar. If gas is at three dollars a gallon, you’re saving fifteen cents a gallon! As you can imagine, this can add up quite quickly.

Use your imagination when it comes to saving on gas. Other ways to find out how to save on gas are local gas price wars, where the owners will compete by lowering their gas prices, look for cash only gas stations as these gas stations offer lower prices, and another way is to look for coupons. Yes, gas stations sometimes do offer gas coupons. There are a ton of ways to save on gas and you shouldn’t be paying full price for your gas anymore.

The country have been continually hit with economic rain showers these past few months. We have seen gas prices rise to record levels and there seems to be no indication that these economic rain showers will stop from pouring. Motorists are keen on saving gas money and stretching it every way they can. The use of gas cards have considerably increased. Everyone seems to see this as the ultimate gas-saving device.

This increase in the usage of gas cards alone, would encourage you to start using one. But first ask yourself these questions. What are in gas cards? What do they have to offer?

There are several types of gas cards available out there- prepaid gas cards, gas credit cards, specific gas cards and general rewards card. Prepaid gas cards are cards whose available amounts you can control. This cards can be preloaded and used up to your desire amount. Loads for prepaid gas cards are usually sold at a discount so in buying the load alone, you already earn savings.

Gas credit cards on the other hand, are just like ordinary credit cards. You can use it to pay for any purchases only that you earn savings every time you use it for gas purchases. Every time you pump gas and use your gas credit card to pay, you earn rebates. The current percentage of rebates, are between 2% to 5% depending on the issuing company. Your rebates are in the form of rewards points that can accumulate during the billing period. These can be redeemed after the billing period or once it reaches its redeemable amount. Rewards can be converted into cash back which is usually credited to your existing card or are issued to you in the form of checks or gift cards. Rewards however differ, depending on the issuing company. Not all of them are in the form of cash backs. Some offer to convert rewards points into airline tickets, products and gift certificate to their affiliated companies.

When you think of credit cards, you usually also think of high interest rates. Gas credits do carry an annual percentage rate or APR which is charged against the card’s maintaining balance. With gas credits cards however, you are given a chance to escape paying for this interest. Once you pay your bill in full and on time, you will not be charged with the annual percentage rate.

Specific gas cards can come in the form of prepaid or credit. This card also offers gas rebates only that they can only be redeemed if the gas purchase is done at their affiliated or specific gas stations. General rewards cards on the other hand, works just the opposite of specific cards. They can be used at any gas stations and you earn rebates for every purchase.

Gas cards really do offer you opportunities for savings and stretching your gas money. Now that you know how they work, go and get yourself a gas card.
